Most standard alterations are completed within 3–7 business days. Simple jobs like basic hemming can often be done in 1–3 days, while complex alterations, bespoke commissions, or wedding and event attire may require 1–4 weeks. When you bring in your garment, Victor will give you an accurate and honest completion timeframe based on the specific work required and current workload.

Walk-ins are warmly welcome during our business hours (Mon–Fri 10AM–8PM, Sat 10AM–6PM). For more involved services like bespoke tailoring, wedding attire alterations, or formal consultations, we strongly recommend booking an appointment in advance. We work on a wide range of garments for men, women, and children. This includes suits and blazers, trousers and jeans, dresses and skirts, coats and jackets, shirts and blouses, wedding and formal gowns, and children's clothing. We also handle vintage and heirloom pieces, school uniforms, costumes, and workwear. If you have an unusual item, just bring it in — Victor will assess it and advise on whether and how it can be altered.

Pricing varies depending on the type of garment, the fabric, and the complexity of the alteration. A standard hem might start at a modest price, while a full bespoke suit commission will reflect the significant time and skill involved. The best way to get an accurate price is to bring your garment in — all estimates are completely free and there is no obligation to proceed. We are always transparent about pricing before any work begins.

Victor has experience working with a broad range of fabrics including wool, silk, chiffon, satin, lace, denim, and structured suiting materials. For leather and suede garments, we recommend bringing the piece in so Victor can assess the specific construction before committing to an alteration — not all leather garments are suitable for every type of change. We will always give you an honest assessment of what is possible and what risks, if any, are involved.

Your complete satisfaction is our standard. If something is not right, bring the garment back and Victor will personally assess and correct the issue. We stand behind our work and will not consider a job complete until you are fully happy with the result. We encourage all clients to try on the garment at pickup so any minor adjustments can be identified and addressed immediately.

Same-day service is available for very simple alterations such as a basic trouser hem, depending on our current workload. We always recommend calling ahead at (212) 941-0348 to check availability before coming in with a same-day request. Rush service for more complex work may be possible in some cases for an additional charge — please enquire directly with Victor.

In many cases, yes — but it depends on how much seam allowance is built into the garment. Many quality garments are constructed with generous seam allowances specifically to allow for letting out. Victor will inspect the seams and assess how much additional fabric is available. He will advise you clearly on what is realistically possible before any work begins. If letting out is not viable, he may suggest alternatives.

Please make sure your garment is clean before bringing it in for alteration — we cannot work on soiled or heavily stained pieces. It helps to wear or bring the undergarments, shoes, or shapewear you intend to wear with the garment so Victor can pin it with the correct fit in mind. If you have specific ideas about the alteration — reference photos, for example — bring those along as well. The more information you give Victor, the better the result.

Absolutely. Wedding dress alterations are among our most carefully handled services. Victor takes bridal work seriously and works closely with each bride to achieve a truly perfect fit. We recommend booking your first fitting as soon as your dress arrives — ideally 8–12 weeks before the wedding — to allow enough time for multiple fittings and any necessary adjustments. We handle all styles from classic ball gowns and A-line dresses to minimalist slip gowns and heavily beaded designs.
